Today, Split is the main urban, cultural, and traffic center of Dalmatia with road and sea connections to Dalmatia's numerous summer resorts, but it is itself a frequent destination of tourists and visitors. It is also the second city in Croatia by size. The city is located on the coast of the Adriatic Sea. The city's center is 1700 years old, a variety of archaeological, historical and cultural monuments, among which a special place definitely takes is Diocletian Palace, part of world heritage by UNESCO, and possesses the appeal and warmth of a modern Mediterranean city. The old church of St. Dujam has one of the highest bell towers of the kind built completely using chiseled white stones. Split is linked by ferry and boat to the central islands such as Brač, Hvar, Vis, Šolta, Korčula, etc., and to Ancona in Italy, with Pula, Venice, Dubrovnik and Greece. In Resnik (Kaštela), there is the airport. Split has four marinas: Split ACI Marina in the northwestern part of the city port; sports Lucica Split on the northern coast of Marjan, the sports boat pier in the port Poljud; sports boat pier Zenta on the southern coast of Split. Split port city at the center of the city is used only for passenger and ferry traffic.
